Chinese New Year 2 is JILI Gaming's sequel to its most culturally celebrated slot — building on the original's red lantern aesthetic, firecracker wild system, and lunar festival atmosphere to deliver a mechanically richer experience. While the first Chinese New Year captured the essence of the holiday with warmth and simplicity, the sequel adds Dual Drum Mechanics (two spinning fortune drums that activate different bonus paths), expanded Firecracker Wild chains, and a Golden Dragon Free Spins round where the dragon's breath converts symbols to premium values on every spin.
For Filipino players at VOSLOT who celebrated with the original Chinese New Year slot, this sequel delivers everything that made the first game beloved — and layers significantly more win potential on top.

Chinese New Year 2 Aesthetic and Theme
The visual evolution from the original is immediately apparent — where the first game was warm and intimate (a family celebration setting), Chinese New Year 2 expands to a grand public festival scene: a city square filled with lion dancers, sky lanterns ascending in spirals, firework displays behind the reels, and the iconic red-gold color palette elevated to a more ornate, almost regal presentation.
The two Fortune Drums dominate the foreground — a larger red drum representing the Sky Path bonus and a golden drum representing the Earth Path bonus. When either drum activates, its corresponding drumbeater animation plays (sky drummers on elevated platforms vs. ground-level golden drummers) before the bonus features unleash.
Chinese New Year 2 Symbol Breakdown
| Symbol | 5-of-a-Kind Pay |
|---|---|
| Golden Dragon (Premium) | 35x stake |
| Firecracker (Wild) | Substitutes all + chain effect |
| Fortune Drum (Scatter) | 3+ triggers Dual Drum Bonus |
| Red Envelope (Hongbao) | 20x stake |
| Jade Ruyi | 15x stake |
| Gold Ingot | 10x stake |
| Prosperity Knot | 6x stake |
| A / K / Q / J | 2x–5x stake |
The Golden Dragon is both the premium paying symbol and the free spin enhancer — during Golden Dragon Free Spins, each Golden Dragon landing converts adjacent symbols to its own type, potentially creating massive cluster formations on the 5×3 grid.
Chinese New Year 2 Firecracker Wild Chain
The Firecracker Wild is the game's most active base game mechanic. When a Firecracker Wild lands:
- It substitutes normally for the current spin's paylines
- After payline evaluation, it explodes — converting all adjacent symbols (horizontally and vertically) to Firecracker Wilds
- The new Firecracker Wilds evaluate the paylines again with expanded Wild coverage
- Each new Wild can chain-explode into adjacent positions: continuing until no adjacent non-Wild positions remain or the chain reaches the reel edges
- The Dual Chain Enhancement (new in sequel): if two Firecracker Wilds land within 2 positions of each other, their explosions combine into a Super Firecracker that converts a 3×3 area instead of single-adjacent
Filipino players report base game chains of 5–8 consecutive Wild conversions creating payline coverage across 20+ positions — generating wins of 50x–300x during extended chains.
Chinese New Year 2 Dual Drum Bonus
Land 3 or more Fortune Drum scatters to trigger the Dual Drum Bonus:
Choose Your Fortune Path
Sky Drum Path (Red):
- 10 free spins with Firecracker Wilds converted to Super Firecrackers (3×3 conversion area from the start)
- Lion Dancer symbol added to the reel set — landing 3+ Lion Dancers adds 3 bonus spins
- Retrigger: 3+ Fortune Drums adds 5 spins
Earth Drum Path (Gold):
- 8 free spins with the Golden Dragon Breath mechanic: each spin, the Golden Dragon appears and converts 3–7 random positions to Golden Dragon symbols
- Higher premium symbol density dramatically increases per-spin win values
- Retrigger: 3+ Fortune Drums adds 8 spins
Double Fortune Path (unlocked with 5+ scatters):
- 12 free spins combining both paths — Super Firecrackers AND Golden Dragon Breath active simultaneously
- The interaction between Wild chain explosions and Dragon-converted premium symbols creates the game's highest win scenarios
- Retrigger: 3+ Fortune Drums adds 6 spins
Filipino players at VOSLOT unanimously prefer the Double Fortune Path when achievable — landing 5+ scatters is rarer but the combined mechanic interaction is dramatically more powerful.
Chinese New Year 2 Strategy for Filipino Players
Path Selection Logic
- Sky Drum (Red): Better for players who enjoyed the Firecracker Wild chains in the original game — the Super Firecracker 3×3 expansion is mechanically exciting
- Earth Drum (Gold): Better for players who prefer consistent high-symbol-density free spins with steady output
- Double Fortune: Always the correct choice if 5+ scatters land — never pass this up
Comparing to the Original
Filipino players who loved JILI's first Chinese New Year will find the sequel's Dual Drum mechanic a significant step up. The firecracker chain system alone justifies trying the sequel, and the Golden Dragon Breath feature during Earth/Double paths creates win densities the original couldn't reach.
For the original Chinese New Year experience at VOSLOT, Chinese New Year remains available as a companion piece to this sequel.
